Not my usual blog post but…
Today is…
❗️𝕎𝕠𝕣𝕝𝕕 ℂ𝕒𝕟𝕔𝕖𝕣 𝔻𝕒𝕪 2024❗️
Me: ‘do you feel sorry for me?’
My nurse: ‘I don’t feel sorry for you, I feel sad for you, I feel sad that your hands aren’t working properly and I feel sad your legs aren’t doing their job, but you’re an amazing mum, so strong and you’re doing us proud and I just want to cuddle you & you know you can ring me anytime’.
This is cancer.
Cancer is more than just a disease
Those words mean more than any treatment I could get. They keep you going and make you remember that you’re actually doing an alright job at juggling this cancer malarkey. Nurses and doctors are just invaluable during your treatment. Don’t ever underestimate the lengths some of them go to, to show they care.
So, Thank you, Jen.
